Edamommy’s Vegan Diary: From the Supremes to the Temptations
I’m almost three weeks into this vegan thing. I don’t look different. I don’t feel different. I try to run 3 miles every day and I’ve been struggling more tha
n usual.
Temptations are getting harder. I’m knocking on mozzarella’s door. I want a quickie with quiche. I can’t fight this feeling anymore (sorry – a new theme song from REO Speedwagon is trying to invade the Supreme’s space and I am blocking it with all of my vegemight).
I am going to renew my commitment to being a vegan. I want to make vegan friends. No more secret meatings. No more raving cravings. I am renewing my efforts. Starting tomorrow.
I have a soy dream.

I don’t think you’re out to con carne anyone; you have been Vegung-ho during this entire experiment. But the appearance of REO Speedwagon into the spring mix now raises the mild chili of my concern to 3-alarm–if REO Speedwagon’s playing unbidden in the morass of that well-intentioned, early seventies brain of yours, WHAT are you going to do when the soundtrack to your struggles progresses to Jimmy Buffet’s “Cheeseburger in Paradise?”
Or worse: MEATLOAF?

I know. My mental soundtrack is always right. Always. If bad songs creep in to my psyche, it is never good. I have to go and reprogram myself with some basics and see if I can reboot with the Beatles.
